A friend once quoted," If your works speaks proficiently, then you shouldn't have to." However, everyone who reads the bible should receive some idea, opinion, or vision of how the story or moment may have looked. We all see something, with varying clarity and no two people's vision can be exactly the same. As for recapturing the accuracy of a biblical moment, its obviously impossible. So artists do the best we can, more times than not falling short, but still hopefully aiding the viewer somehow in illustrating the scene. I begin by attempting to put myself into each character and think of how they may have felt emotionally given their circumstance. I've put together a couple of thoughts on each painting, explaining my choices. Sometimes the commentaries are scripture or even famous theologans' quotes.
